Workshop Name: iPad Apps for Literacy

This workshop focused on ways in which iPads can be used to support student learning in literacy and provided an introduction to meaningful ways this technology can be incorporated into the classroom. There were introductions into how apps such as Book Creator and Toontastic can be used to enhance and augment literacy activities in the classroom. As well, the iPad’s built-in accessibility supports such as voice-to-text dictation, text to speech, etc. were discussed as ways to support literacy. A few web-based applications that can be used with iPads such as Padlet, QR codes and Kahoot! were also explored.
