I’m Debbie and I’m a SET-BC consultant. I’ve worked for SET-BC for 4 years and my focus is providing support to students and their teams as a Tier 3 Consultant.
My career in education sprang from a lifetime of supporting individuals who have disabilities to independence. In 2007 I began work in a secondary life skills class for the Vancouver School Board. I loved getting to know individual students, discovering their motivations and sparking their creativity. Technology played a significant role in engaging and including these students in their learning journey. This experience spurred me on to further education and I earned my BEd at UBC and became an elementary school teacher. I love teaching elementary school. I am particularly interested in differentiation and Universal Design for Learning and exploring the role of technology through this lens. Recently, my focus has turned to supporting students who have visual impairments. I am excited to continue this work with SET-BC.
I love to spend time with family, and am ‘Auntie’ to many children. I love to travel and have taken many road trips. I also enjoy science fiction and love to play board games, particularly strategy games such as Settlers of Catan.
